Several days after the death of Meredith McDonnell, she isn't showing up for work and Mrs. Dunwiddy is called. She came by Meredith's apartment and knocks on the door, but notices the smell of a dead body. She calls the police, and they arrive. They cut the chain to get into the apartment, and find Meredith in pieces all over, but everything else in perfect condition. Mrs. Dunwiddy privately wonders if it was a wild animal, although it's obvious a nutjob did it. The police spend several days combing the apartment for clues.
A week after Meredith's death, two workers from the PF Alarm Systems company come by to look around named Dean and Sam. Mrs. Dunwiddy lets them in, telling them their alarm's about as useful as boobs on a man. They talk a bit. No signs of a break-in, no struggle. She found the body, after Meredith's work had called, and she smelled Meredith when she knocked. Mrs. Dunwiddy described the carnage she saw, and tells them that if she didn't know better, a wild animal did it. They ask for some time to give the place a once over, and she tells them to go right ahead and knock yourself out before she leaves.
Later they thanked Mrs. Dunwiddy for looking around and she locked up.
