On Saturday, April 15, 2006 a young man calls to make an appointment. He has a research question on pagan idolatry, but only local lore. The professor calls the sheriff to let him know they might have a problem, before the young man shows up. The professor pointed out to the young man Indiana isn't really known for pagan worship. He asks if it might be imported by the immigrants, before asking about immigrants from Burkitsville. Professor answers they were from Scandinavia, so it's Norse gods and goddesses. They go into Professor's office and look through his book. The young man spots Vanir almost right away, and reads up on the legend. He asks if torching the tree would kill the god, but the professor laughs, telling him that they were just legends. The man shook his hand, and starts out the office door, only to be met by the sheriff's rifle butt in the face. Professor exchanges a knowing look with the sheriff - they had their male sacrifice to Vanir tonight.
