Biography

In Provenance, when Sarah's dad, Daniel Blake, put up the Telesca estate for sale in June or July 2006, she sees two young men by a painting. She questions one about it, and Sam answers satisfactorily. Sam introduces Dean, before questioning about the Telesca estate. She thinks it's all very grisly, before her dad comes up and throws them out.

Later Sam calls to ask her to dinner, although he has a hard time getting the words out. They go out to an upscale restaurant, and mention that neither has been on a date for a while. While Sam hesitates over the wine, Sarah announces she would like a beer. Sam orders a beer for himself as well. Talking during their date, Sarah admits she was a terrible artist, which is why she is in the auction business. Sam is evasive as why he didn't go into law. He asks why she hasn't been dating, and she tells him her mom died. How she went into this emotional safe shell. She asks him why he hasn't dated, and he's evasive about that, too. Later Sam asks for the provenances, which Sarah gives him when they go back to her place, and then Sam leaves.

At the auction house the next morning, Sarah spots Sam and Dean and asks why they are there. Sam tells her they are leaving, although Dean claims they were not leaving. He gives Sam $20, before leaving. Sarah tells Sam she had a good time last night and hopes to do it again, but Sam tells Sarah they really are leaving before reacting violently to the Merchant family portrait. Sam's flustered, telling her not to sell the painting, that he's got to take care of something, and he'll be seeing her, before he bolts.

Daniel Blake watches over the crating of the Merchant family as Sarah comes up. She reminds him he promised he wouldn't sell it, but he counters that Evelyn's offered a persuasive amount of money. Sarah tells him he's shameless, but he can afford to be with that kind of money. He leaves, and the moving crate being fastened shut, is sent off.

Sam calls her, awkwardly, and asks to look at the painting again, because they might be interested in buying it. She tells him regretfully they'd already sold it, and he demands an address of the person they sold it to, telling her Evelyn might be in danger. She beats them to Evelyn's address, demanding answers. Dean picks the lock, making her wonder if they were burglars, while Sam keeps urging her to wait in the car. When the door opens, Sarah follows them inside, calling for Evelyn. When Sarah reaches for Evelyn, Sam tries to stop her, but Evelyn's head falls backwards, making a grisly sight. She spots the painting move as Sam removes her from the room.

She lies to the police, telling them that she went over to Evelyn's by herself, and found her like that. Later she goes to Sam and Dean and demand answers - who's killing these people? They give her a crazy theory that the painting is haunted. She thinks they are joking, but they've got evidence of wherever it went, people died. Sam tells her they are trying to stop it, so Sarah declares she will too. She's scared, but she's not going to run and hide because she and her dad sold it. She leaves, letting them follow her.

Sam picks the lock to go into Evelyn's, and they study the painting. She's worried it will kill them, but Sam thinks they're all right in daylight. They discover the razor has changed, and the painting in the painting has changed to a mausoleum with the name 'Merchant'. They head out to walk through the graveyards. The third one is when they found it. Dean breaks open the lock, and Sarah sees the things behind the glass next to the urns. She thinks the doll is the creepiest thing she's seen. Dean points out that Dad wasn't there.

Sam and Sarah talk while Dean hunts down Isaiah's death certificate. Sam flirts with her a bit, and Sarah wonders if there is something between them. He agrees, but doesn't think it's a good idea. He explains people around him get hurt, and die. She thinks it's sweet and archaic, that it's not his job to make her decisions for her. She tells him if he shuts out the pain, he shuts out himself. But he can't go through that kind of pain of losing his girlfriend and his mom again. Dean interrupts, telling them he found the bones to burn.

Sarah holds the flashlight while they dig, commenting on how comfortable they are doing this. Sam teases her gently, asking if he's still a catch, until Dean finds the coffin. The boys salt and burn the bones.

Afterwards they head back to Evelyn's to bury the painting. Sarah offers to go in with Sam, but when they see the painting the little girl is missing, as is the razor. The door slams shut. Sam calls Dean, who's trying to get them out, and they try to figure out what to do. Sam tries to find salt, and she's hunting for iron, but neither can find anything when the ghost girl shows up, with a lot of wind. Sam puts Sarah behind him, and they back up until he kicks the iron poker from the fireplace. He uses it to dispel the ghost. Sarah remembers that antique dolls use real hair for the dolls, so Dean heads back to the mausoleum. The wind picks up. A heavy desk goes racing across the room, knocking Sam over. Sarah rushes over to help him, only to come face to face with the ghost again. Backing up, Sarah whimpers, when Sam throws himself over her to protect her. The ghost goes up in flames. Dean calls to make sure they were good.

At the auction house, Sarah oversees the crating of the painting when Dean comes in. He explains that the adopted daughter's original family was murdered in their beds, before Isaiah adopted her, so she killed them. The worker asks where the painting went, and she informed them to take it out back and burn it. They were dumbstruck, and she informs them that she is serious, so they do. Sarah wonders why Melanie did it; Sam says some spirits are just born tortured. Dean doesn't care, just moving on, heading out to the car. Sarah's sorry to see Sam go, pointing out that she didn't get hurt - perhaps Sam's not cursed. She wishes he'd come back to see her. He promises. She lets him out of the building, leaning against the door. A knock, and she's opening it to find Sam there and kissing her thoroughly.
