Right before getting off work, Officer Walter Kelly and Officer Daniel Gunderson were called to check out a 10-62, breaking and entering, on Roosevelt Asylum's grounds. When they showed up, Gunderson told Kelly about the legend - that Roosevelt Asylum is haunted with the ghosts of the patients, and if you spend the night the ghosts will drive you insane. They walk in, only to discover the kids had brought bolt cutters to break the chain. They decide to split up to cover more ground, and Kelly ends up down in the Boiler Room. While there, a door opens up of it's own volition, and he goes to investigate.
Off-camera, Dr. Sanford Ellicott jumps him and zaps him, causing him to become angrier.
He shows back up with Officer Gunderson, after the other officer ran the kids off. Gunderson asks if he'd seen anything inside, but Kelly responds with “No”. They climb back into the police car to head back to the station, and log off work. Looking into a side view mirror, Kelly sees a trickle of blood from his nose, that he wipes slowly.
After work that evening, Walter Kelly comes in from work. He walks over to the dresser, but he isn't talking with his wife. She takes that to mean that he's still upset over their fight. She doesn't know what else to do, after all, she apologized already. He picks up his gun and shoots her, before shooting himself.
