Chapter 3 gives an account of David's sons, the one of note being Nathan, his ninth son, thru whom would come the linage of Christ and his grandsons through his son Solomon. Also in this chapter is an account of David's descendants during and after the captivity in Babylon.
The following were the sons of David:
Amnon, Daniel, Absalom, Adonijah, Shephatiah, Ithream, Shimea, Shobab, Nathan,
Solomon, Ibhar, Elishama, Eliphelet, Nogah, Nepheg and Japhia.

Through David's son Solomon, came the Kings. Through his son Nathan, came the King of Kings, Christ.
