Chapter 15 contains the history of the second and third Kings of Judah and the second and third Kings of Israel. With the death of Solomon, Rehoboam his son became King of Judah. With his death, his son Abijah became the second King of Judah. He reigned a little over 2 years. During that time, he assembled an army and made war on the Northern Kingdom of Israel and 500,000 men were killed. He died and was buried in Jerusalem. He was considered a bad king.
With the death of Abijah, his son Asa became the third King of Judah. He removed the idols of the gods of Egypt that his grandmother (sometimes called his mother because she raised him) erected in Judah. He reigned for 41 years and for the most part, there was peace. The Author of Chronicles says that Asa's heart was "perfect" all his days even though he did not remove all the places of pagan worship.
We now leave Judah and go to Israel where Nadab becomes the second King of Israel. His father was Jeroboam. Nadab reigned two years and was killed by Baasha of Issachar. He did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord.
Baasha became the third King of Israel. He reigned for 23 years. He moved the Capitol of Israel from Shechem to Tirzah. He was defeated in battle by Asa, the King of Judah. He provoked God to anger many times. He died a natural death.
