Chapter 7 records God's answer to Solomon's prayer. God acknowledged Solomon's request by totally consuming the sacrifices by fire. The dedication celebration lasted 14 days and during which time Solomon had a vision in which God encouraged him to do all things to His honor.

As Solomon finished praying, fire flashed down from heaven and burned all of the sacrifices and the Glory of the Lord filled the Temple. All the people fell on their faces and worshipped and thanked the Lord. Then Solomon and all the people dedicated the Temple unto the Lord. Solomon sacrificed 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. The Priests and Levites were busy in their duties. For the next 7 days they celebrated the Temple Festival. A final service was held on the eighth day and then Solomon sent the people home.

One night the Lord appeared to Solomon. He told Solomon that He had heard his prayer and that He would honor the prayers that were made there. He promised Solomon that if he would follow Him as his father David had, He would see to it that Solomon and his descendants would always be the kings of Israel. But if he did not follow the Lord, and the people disobeyed Him, he would destroy the land and the people and the Temple would be torn down.
