Hezekiah died in 686 BC. He was 54 years old. The last nine years of his life he shared the throne of Judah with his son Manasseh. Manasseh was 12 years old when he began sharing this joint leadership of Judah with his father. When he was 21, his father died and he became the soul King of Judah. He reigned for 55 years. He was not a "good king" like his father. He rebuilt the "hill top" shrines, he built altars to the pagan gods Baal and Asherah, and he even put some of these pagan altars in the Temple. He murdered great numbers of people. He practiced "black magic" and enticed the people to be even more evil than their neighbors.

Finally the Lord spoke through the Prophet and prophesied this great judgment that would fall upon Jerusalem because of the evil of Manasseh: "Many people would be killed, those who remained would be handed over to their enemies." The people had done great evil in the eyes of the Lord, more so than any of their ancestors.

Manasseh died and was buried in the garden of the Palace. His son, Amon, became the 15th. King of Judah. He did all the evil things that his father had done. His aides conspired against him and killed him in the Palace. He was 22 years old when he became King and reigned for only 2 years. A group of civilian leaders rounded up the aides that had killed him and they were executed. Then they made Amon's son, Josiah, the 16th. King of Judah.
