A Psalm by David

Click here to read II Samuel 22.

This chapter records a Psalm by David. It is very similar to Psalm 18. The difference is that David wrote this Psalm for his own personal use. Psalm 18 was written for the use of the church. But both Psalms had the same purpose.

David had three main points in these Psalms.

  1. He gave glory to God in the PRESENT. David could see the hand of God that day leading him, protecting him, forgiving him and enlightening him.
  2. He gave glory to God for the PAST. He was aware of God's favors in the past and gave thanks for them.
  3. He gave glory to God for the FUTURE. He had great expectations that God would continue to bless and favor him.

It is a beautiful acknowledgement of the Lord's presence in the life of David up to that time and his belief that it would continue. Many believe that this was an accumulation of all that David acknowledged as having come from the Lord as God watched over him and delivered him from the hands of his enemies those numerous times.
