Seek After the Lord, O Israel

Chapter 5 exhorts Israel to prepare to meet their Lord. They must seek the Lord and not seek any more idols; they must seek good instead of evil. Why is Amos telling them that they must do this? He gives 5 reasons:

1. Because their present conditions were deplorable.
2. Because their sin had gotten them into this condition.
3. Because it would be to their best interest.
4. Because if they didn't God would ruin them.
5. Because everything else that they had relied upon would fail. All of their hypocrisy described in Chapter 4, could not save them.
