Seek After the Lord, O Israel
Chapter 5 exhorts Israel to prepare to meet their Lord. They must seek the
Lord and not seek any more idols; they must seek good instead of evil. Why is
Amos telling them that they must do this? He gives 5 reasons:
- Because their present conditions were deplorable.
- Because their sin had gotten them into this condition.
- Because it would be to their best interest.
- Because if they didn't God would ruin them.
- Because everything else that they had relied upon would fail. All
of their hypocrisy described in Chapter 4, could not save them.
