Seven Nations to be Destroyed

Click here to read Deuteronomy 7.

Chapter 7 lists the 7 nations that the Israelites were to destroy even though they were mightier that the Israelites. The Hittites, The Gir-gash-ites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jabusites. They were to show no mercy, make no treaty nor enter into any marriages. They were to utterly wipe them out along with their places of worship and their idols along with the gold and silver that was used in their making. He stressed their "election" by God and His reason for it.

He again reminds them that God had not poured out His love upon them because they were a great nation but because He had promised their ancestors. Moses reminded them that God blesses those who obey Him and punishes those who disobey Him. He promises to multiply their number, their crops, their herds and their families. But they must destroy the nations that He would deliver into their hands.
