Chapter 9 is a good dissertation on "Justification by Faith".
- He told the people of their utter unworthiness to receive the great
favor that God had given them.
- He cautioned them not to attribute their success to their own merit.
- He showed their unworthiness by reminding them of their faults, i.e.
they were a provoking people, their dedication was always short
lived as illustrated by the golden calf, they had rebelled many
times during the 40 years of wandering.
- He reminded them of the many times that he had to intercede for them
to keep them from being destroyed for their disobedience.
