Moses' Final Instructions

Click here to read Deuteronomy 26.

Chapter 26 deals with the final instructions of Moses and the authority he had for all that he had given them. Verse 16, "Not I, but the Lord thy God has commanded you to do these statues."

Here Moses institutes again the Feast of First Fruits which was to be offered at the time of harvest or shortly thereafter. This acknowledges that God is the giver of all good things.

Here Moses expounds upon the tithe indicating that the third year tithe was to be used at home for the aid of the poor. Moses assures them that it is appropriate that God, who is the giver of all things, should have the decision as to what is to be done with it.

Finally Moses assures them that all that he had commanded them was from God and that their Covenant that they had made with God, obligated them to keep His statutes.
