Some Wise Advice

Click here to read Ecclesiastes 8.

In this chapter, the author seems to have a change of mind. He recommends wisdom as a powerful antidote to the temptations that arise in this world to be vain. Some wise advice is given here.

  1. Keep in subjection to the government that God has set over us.
  2. Get ready for sudden evils, particularly death.
  3. Arm yourself for some form of oppressive government, it may very well come.
  4. Cheerfully use the gifts of God's providence.
  5. Be always in God's will and be assured that it is wise, just and good.
