Chapter 9 records what happened when the two edicts became law. One stated that on the 13th. day of the 12th. month, all Jews would be killed. The other stated that on the same day, all Jews would be armed and allowed to protect themselves. There were still many followers of Haman around and they vowed to take advantage of the Kings first edict. They far outnumbered the Jews but the Jews relied upon God and He gave them a glorious victory. The day was remembered annually by a feast, the Feast of Purim.
