Along with the Ten Commandants, God gave Moses 45 Ordinances concerning personal conduct toward one another. In this chapter the Ordinances relate to the fifth and sixth commandments. Relative to the fifth commandment, there is an ordinance concerning the duty of masters toward their slaves and the punishment of children who strike their parents. Relative to the sixth commandment which forbids violence, there is an ordinance concerning murder, man stealing, assault and battery, correcting a servant, harming a woman, harming a servant, ox goring, damage done by a pit left open and cattle fighting.
