Chapter 29 contains the instructions for the consecration and ordination of Aaron and his sons as priests. They were to take one young bull and two rams without blemish along with unleavened bread, cakes and wafers spread with oil and bring them along with Aaron and his sons, to the door of the Tabernacle.
Then they were to be washed and their garments put upon them. Next, the bull would be killed at the door of the Tabernacle while Aaron and his sons had their hand upon his head. The blood of the bull was to be put upon the horns of the alter and the remainder on the base. The fat was to be burned upon the alter and the rest was to be burned outside the camp as a sin offering.
Then they were to take one of the rams while Aaron and his sons placed their hands upon its head and kill it and put the blood against the alter and round about. Then it was to be burnt upon the alter as an offering unto the Lord. Then they were to take the second ram, kill it the same as the other and put part of the blood on the tip of Aaron's right ear and the right ears of his sons. Also it was to be put on the thumbs of their right hands. The rest of the blood was to be thrown upon the alter. Some of this was to be retrieved and mixed with oil and splattered upon the garments of Aaron and his sons. Then the fat, the kidneys and the right thigh along with bread, oil and one wafer would be put into the hands of Aaron and his sons to be waved as a "wave offering" to the Lord.
The garments would be worn for the seven days that it took for the ordination. The consecration of the Tabernacle would be accomplished by the offering of two lambs, one year old, one in the morning and one in the evening for 7 days along with a cereal offering.
