Chapter 35 records the preparations for the construction of the Tabernacle and all the furnishings and garments for the priests. The work was to be done six days a week but they were to rest on the seventh day.
To finance this work, Moses asked for a "volunteer" offering, "Whoever is of a generous heart." He asked for gold, silver, bronze, blue purple and scarlet material, fine woven linen, goat's hair, leather from rams and goats, acacia wood, oil and spices and precious stones for the Ephod and Breastplate.
To do the work, he asked for craftsmen to come and volunteer their services. Every one, whose heart was stirred, came and brought their offering. The men brought acacia wood and fashioned it into the frames for the Tabernacle, the posts for the outer court and the furnishings. The Women spun, with their hands, linen and goats hair and brought pieces of blue, purple and scarlet material. The leaders of each tribe brought precious stones, spices and oil. Everyone, whose heart was so moved, came to work for the Lord.
Then Moses proclaimed to the people the calling of Bez-alel, to whom God had given the ability, the intelligence and the knowledge of all craftsmanship and he was instructed to teach design, gold and silver smiths, stone carvers, jewelers and weavers. Oho-liab was called to assist him.
