In this chapter we have the further preparation of the Prophet for the work that the Lord has called him. Here, he eats the scroll that was given him in the last chapter and though the scroll was filled with lamentations and mourning, it tasted, to the Prophet, like sweet honey. Here he receives further instructions and encouragement. Then he is "transported" by the Holy Spirit back to Tel-abib and dwelt by the River Chebar where he astonished them with his words for 7 days. He is further instructed on his position as "watchman" and the great responsibility of it. Then the Lord confined him to his house and made him so that he could not speak, because of the rebellious nature of the people, until the Lord opened his mouth.
