In this chapter the complete and total ruin of all of Israel is described. The Prophet is told to warn them of this approaching ruin, that it is unavoidable because of their sin. That their wealth and power will be no defense against it and that the Temple, which they trusted in, would be destroyed also.
It is difficult to tell the difference in this book between prophesy of things to come and accounts of things that have already happened. It would appear in these chapters that Ezekiel is reminding the Jews in Babylon of the sins that caused their destruction and the judgment that God brought upon them.
