Symbolic Descriptions of Two Events

Click here to read Ezekiel 12.

Even though there appears to be an end to his vision in the last chapter, the Word of the Lord continues to come to Ezekiel concerning the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. Notice the symbolic parallels set forth in this chapter, things that Ezekiel was commanded to do that were symbolic of the events that happened in the destruction of the city of Jerusalem.

  1. The Prophet, by the removing of his furnishings and the leaving of his house, was a parallel of the plight of King Zedekiah out of Jerusalem when the Chaldeans took the city of Jerusalem.
  2. The Prophet, by eating his meal with fear and trembling, was a parallel to the famine that occurred in the city during the siege by the Chaldeans.

Finally, a message was given to the people that all that was prophesied did happen and was not delayed as the people thought.
