In this chapter, the "false prophets" are condemned, those who prophesied what the people wanted to hear, who down played the fall of the city. In the previous chapter these false leaders were mentioned but here a whole chapter is written about them. Here Ezekiel shows their sin and their punishment. Their sin, under the pretence of comforting God's people, they gave them false hope. Their punishment, the deceived and the deceiver will both be accountable to the Lord. (Job 12:16)
"Woe unto the foolish prophets" who have prophesied vainly, who have lied in their divination. Here the Lord promises that His hand will be upon them. They will not be allowed to return to Israel from their bondage in Babylon. They will be shown for what they were, false in every way. The walls that they said were invincible will be destroyed. Even the women who were apart of this false veil of security will be destroyed. The weakness of their gender will not excuse their sin. Thus all who were a part of this deception will be judged.
