In this chapter we have an explanation of the prophesy at the end of the preceding chapter concerning "fire in the forest" with directions to Ezekiel to show great emotions about it. Prophesies concerning the destruction of the land, Babylon's approach to Jerusalem, a sentence passed upon King Zedekiah and the destruction of the Ammonites.
With this information about the total destruction of the land of Israel, Ezekiel mourned and the people seeing Ezekiel asked, "Why mournth thou?" Then Ezekiel told them of the destruction and every heart did melt their hands became feeble. Their knees became weak and their spirits faint.
To King Zedekiah, called here "the wicked Prince of Israel", tell him that his day has come and his iniquity has brought him to an end. Remove the diadem and take off the crown.
To the Ammonites, their doom is here prophesied. They had become very insolent and rejoiced with the destruction of Jerusalem but here their destruction is foretold and their destroyer named. Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the Ammonites 5 years after he destroyed Jerusalem.
