Messages from God

This chapter contains three separate messages from God to the Prophet to deliver to the people of Judah their sins and the judgment that was coming as the result of those sins. Note the messages:

  1. This was a list of their sins by which they had shamed themselves and by which they had brought judgment upon themselves. Listed were the shedding of blood, the making of idols, ill gotten gain, profaning the Sabbath, adultery and neglect of God.
  2. This compared them to "scum" or waste, fit only for fire and as the result of this, her days of judgment draw near, that they will be exposed to their heathen neighbors, that God is sorely displeased with them and in spite of their false sense of security, they are no match for God and since you like the heathen so well, I will scatter you among them. Let them know that God has disowned them and has cast them off.
  3. This declares that all men, from the highest to the lowest, were guilty of neglect of duty and having equally contributed to the nations demise and sense none had appeared as intercessors, they must all share in the punishment.
