The prophesy against Egypt continues in this chapter and was designed to humble and embarrass the Pharaoh. To pass judgment upon Pharaoh, the Prophet needed to show a precedent in past history. He used the King of Assyria whose capitol city was Nineveh, as an example of some, like himself, who thought they were above the law and not accountable to any authority. He recounted to the Pharaoh, the fall and ruin of the King of Assyria and the stir that it created amongst the nations who also thought he was invincible and how it effected the heads of other nations to get them to take heed less their pride cause them to fall also. This the Prophet did to get the Pharaoh to see himself in the same position as the King of Assyria.
