The Leaders of Israel Condemned

Chapter 34 In the previous chapters, the people of Israel were condemned for their sins of disobedience, now in this chapter, the leaders of Israel are called to task for having been an accessory to the sins of Israel that led to it's ruin. In the neglecting of their duty, the following charges are made.

  1. They were charged with negligence, lack of skill and being unfaithful in the management of public affairs.
  2. They were charged with being unfaithful to the trust that the people had placed in their care both as the result of their inabilities and their treachery.
  3. That God would, in time, take care of His people for they should not always suffer as the result of poor management by their officials.
  4. A charge was made against the "upper crust" of the population, those who were "fat and strong" and did injury to the "weak and feeble".
  5. Then he give another promise that, in due time, God would send the Messiah, the Good Shepherd of the sheep, who would address their grievances.
