Holy Waters and Holy Land

Click here to read Ezekiel 47.

In this chapter we have prophecy of things to come presented in an allegory. It covers two areas, Holy Water and Holy Land. Briefly it describes:

  1. A vision of the Holy Waters, their rise, extent and healing characteristics, the large amount of fish in then and an account of the trees that grow on the banks of these waters. It is obvious that the Prophet is not referring to the city sewers of Jerusalem either from the homes or the Temple. We believe that the Prophet may have already explained it in Chapter 14, "living waters that shall go out of Jerusalem, half towards the former sea and half towards the hinder sea." John in Rev. 22 speaks of the "water of life" that nurtures everything around it.
  2. The division of the Land of Canaan, divided, by lot, to the tribes and to the stranger among them. This appears not to refer to the original division of the Promise Land but rather to a future promise of eternal inheritance. Surly speaking of the coming of the Messiah.
