Fall of Man

Click here to read Genesis 3.

Chapter 3, verse 1 shows how Satan creates doubt in the heart of man. "Did God say you should not eat of any tree in the garden?" The question not only brought doubt in the heart of Eve but it also brought curiosity. She took the fruit from the forbidden tree and ate it and gave it to her husband and he ate it and the "eyes" of both of them were opened. When they heard the voice the Lord they knew that they had been disobedient and were afraid and they hid themselves.

Their disobedience brought judgment on all three of them:

  1. Satan would be cursed by all and was commanded to crawl upon his belly all the days of his life.
  2. Eve would have the pain of child bearing multiplied.
  3. Upon Adam, He cursed the ground that he would have to cultivate. Thorns and thistles would come forth.
  4. Then God removed them from the Garden of Eden so they could not eat of the "Tree of Life" and live forever.
