Chapter 5 lists the descendants of Adam to Noah, a period of approximately 2000 years. Of most importance were Enoch and Methuselah. "Enoch walked with God and God took him." Enoch never knew death; he was "translated". Only two men in the Bible share this honor, Enoch and Elijah. Methuselah is remembered as having lived longer than anyone else has, as far as we know, that being 969 years.
