Chapter 15 tells of God appearing again to Abram and again reassuring him of His favor, also assuring him of many descendants and eventual possession of the land of Canaan. Then while Abram is in a deep sleep, God reveals what the future holds for him and his descendants. Abram will live to a ripe old age and go to his fathers in peace. His descendants will be persecuted, enslaved, delivered and returned again to Canaan.
