Chapter 19 records the arrival of the three Messengers at Sodom. Here they appear as two Angels. Lot, Abraham's nephew, was at the gate to the city when they arrived. He invited them into his house for food and lodging. That night the men of the city (homosexuals) surrounded the house and demanded that Lot send the strangers out to them. Lot tried to bargain with them by offering them his two virgin daughters, but being homosexuals, they wanted the men. They attempted to break into Lot's home and the Angels struck them with blindness.
Then the two Angels tell Lot to take his family and flee the city, as they were about to destroy it. The next morning, Lot appears to hesitate and the two Angels force him and his family to leave the city. Then the Lord rained fire and brimstone upon the two cities and destroyed everything and everybody. As Lot and his family left the city, Lot's wife looked back and was changed into a pillar of salt, much like those that can be seen even today along the Dead Sea.
Lot and his two daughters went and dwelled in the hills. The girls got their father drunk and both had children by him. The oldest girl bore a son and called him Moab and he became the father of the Moabites. The youngest bore a son and called him Ben-ammi and he became the father of the Ammonites.
