Chapter 41 picks up some two years later with a dream that Pharaoh has. The Butler remembers a man who had interpreted his dream while he was in prison and he tells Pharaoh about it. Pharaoh had Joseph brought to him. Joseph interprets the dream. There will be 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine. During the 7 years of plenty, Pharaoh must put aside one fifth of all that is produced. This should be administered by someone wise and discrete in whom dwells the Spirit of God. So Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has shown you all of this, you shall be overseer of everything in Egypt except my throne. Joseph was 30 years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh. The prophecy came true just as Joseph had said. There was 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine.
When Joseph became Governor of Egypt, Pharaoh named him Zaph-enath and he gave him a wife, As-enath, the daughter of Poti-phera, Priest of "On". "On" was a city in Egypt; perhaps it's capitol at that time. The Greeks called it Heli-opolis. Egyptian tradition has it that the hill upon which it was built was the location of creation. As-enath gave Joseph two sons, Manassah, the first-born, and Ephraim, the second born.
