Chapter 50 records the funeral of Jacob and the good understanding between Joseph and his brothers. It closes with the death of Joseph in Egypt. His body was placed in a coffin for future burial in Canaan.
The major theme of Chapters 37 thru 50 was the beginning of God's Plan of Redemption. The central message was to show how God works in strange and wondrous ways to bring to completion His plans. The role of these chapters was to get the people down into Egypt where they would realize their need of redemption.
