He Commands that We Love Our Enemies and Pray for Those who Persecute Us

This is not easy, but we are to be different, Christlike, not responding like the world responds. Consider the pagan, they love those that love them, but of what reward is it if we do this, we must love the unloving. Did not Christ love us before we loved Him. Wouldn't it have been awful if Christ had died only for the lovable.
