A study of the remaining events in the life of Jesus provides these facts:
Should this not have been so? Didn't Christ die for both Jew and Gentile.
The Guards led Him from the Mount of Olives, down across the Kidron Brook and up the Temple Mount through the Sheep Gate to the home of a man by the name of Annas. Why did they stop here? There is no obvious answer but we can guess that because Annas was the father-in-law of the High Priest Caiaphas, they undoubtedly assumed that he would be pleased with what they had done. Why not stop at his house, sense it was on the way, and brag a little bit and perhaps gain a few points.
We probably can not realize the power and influence that these religious leaders had in the community. The Guards felt it was good to have Annas' approval for what they had done. Receiving this, they continue on and take Jesus to the High Priest, Caiaphas.
