Haggai's First Sermon

Chapter 1 contains the first sermon. It was a call to the people to rebuild the Temple. He warned them that the economic growth that they thought they were generating, by making trade, agriculture, and merchandising their number one priority, would lead to their own destruction. Amazingly, the people were convicted and convinced by Haggai's sermon and turned to the rebuilding of the Temple. For this, the Prophet assured them that God was with them.
