In this chapter, He condemns the priests and leaders of Israel. He calls the priests members of a Royal Family. He tells them that they were doomed. The charges:
Israel had left the Lord. In the end they will come with their sacrifices, but it will be to late, they will not find the Lord for He will have withdrawn Himself from them.
Judah, too, will fall. Her leaders have become thieves; therefore I will pour out my anger upon them. Ephraim will be crushed and broken because she is determined to follow idols. When they see what I am going to do to them, they will turn to Assyria, to the great king there, but he can neither help nor cure them. I will destroy Ephraim and Judah. I will abandon them and they will be carried off until they admit their guilt and look to me for help.
