In this chapter we continue where the preceding chapter left off. There was a returning to the Lord by many for the sake of His blessings but others were still living in idolatry. Here we see the grief of the Lord in bringing judgment upon these people. Their love had vanished like morning clouds. He had sent the prophets to warn them but they either ignored them or they killed them. They, like Adam, had broken His covenant. He did not want their sacrifices; all He wanted was their love.
