The Judgment is Prophesied

In Chapter 8, the alarm is sounded. The judgment is coming. The Northern Kingdom of Israel pleads to the Lord, but it is to late. Israel has thrown away her last chance. They cut themselves off from the Lord by worshipping idols. To the Southern Kingdom of Judah He warns that a similar judgment lies in wait for them even though they have constructed great defenses for their cities, "They have forgotten their Maker, therefore, I will send down fire upon them and burn their fortresses" says the Lord.
