Chapter 9 continues the Lords condemnation of Israel. His description of their judgment, being carried off to Egypt and Assyria. Certainly these graphic descriptions of their sins and the punishment for those sins would cause these people to repent and turn to the Lord, but it did not. He reminisces of the "good old days", those days when He led them through the wilderness, the times when they relied totally upon Him for everything. Their wickedness began at Gilgal, the town where Baal worship flourished. They set up kings without God's approval, they set up idols to pagan gods and they kept up a form of religion that was contrary to their laws and their covenant.
