Here the Lord refers to Israel as a child, one that He raised, one that He brought out of Egypt, one that He trained from infancy, one that he taught to walk, one that He held in His arms, but now, they don't even care who it was that raised them. How could He destroy one that He had raised? No, He would not punish them as much as they deserved, for He was God and not man, the Holy One living among them and He did not come to destroy.
