Chapter 14 is a lesson in repentance. The cry is to Israel to repent of their sins to come to the Lord and say, "O Lord, take away our sins, be gracious to us and receive us." "Assyria cannot save us neither can the idols that we have made." "Only in you, O Lord, can we find mercy." Then the Lord will cure you of your idolatry and unfaithfulness and His love will know no bounds. Stay away from idols and the Lord will look after you. Whoever is wise, let him understand these things. Whoever is intelligent, let him listen. For the paths of the Lord are true and right, and good men walk along them. But sinners, trying it, will fail.
Thus Hosea ends his warning to Israel and Judah with words of wisdom for all sinners. Read and listen to the words of the Lord.
