Chapter 3 foretells of the destruction of Jerusalem and Judah because of their sins both by the Babylonians and by the Romans. God will deprive them of their lives as well as their government this will allow them to fall into confusion and disorder. At that time, God will take away His protection and enlightenment and strip them of their "ornaments" that they had come to worship instead of Him. The land will be laid to waste by the sword of war.
Their sins are described as defiance of God, impudence, the abuse of power and their false pride. He gives assurance to the righteous and warns the evil that inspire of His mercy, they will be judged. This is a word of warning to nations today, God is not mucked.
