Chapters 8 thru 11 record one sermon on the great destruction that will come upon Israel by the Assyrians as the result of their disobedience of God and the great uneasiness that shall befall Judah because of this. Note the provision that will be made for those who obey and fear the Lord.
Here prophesied is the destruction of both the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Syria by the King of Assyria and of the great desolation that shall be laid upon the once great Kingdoms of both nations.
Then encouragement and assurance is given to the righteous that they would find refuge in the Lord if they continued in their fear and trust of God rather than man. Finally he cautions against the council of "familiar spirits" (witchcraft) for this would only lead to despair.
All this is indeed good advice for us in time of trouble.
