Isaiah, in this chapter, deals with those local officials who abuse their power and pervert justice. Here he identifies and describes the instrument that God will use to bring judgment upon these abusive officials. His name is Sennacherib, King of Assyria and it is prophesied that he will exercise his commission with vengeance. Then Isaiah turns his prophesy to this instrument of God's justice and foretells of his destruction. This is intended to bring hope to those in time of trial reminding them, and us if God is for us, who can be against us.
