Isaiah continues to describe the eventual destruction of Babylon. The total defeat of the King of Babylon, the extinction of the whole Babylonian race, the instrument of God's destruction is prophesied to be the Assyrians.
The chapter ends with an added note of prophesy concerning a more current event, the destruction of the Philistines by King Hezekiah of Judah (715-687) and the advantages the nation would gain from this.
