Here we have a prophecy concerning the taking into bondage of many Egyptians and Ethiopians by the forces of Assyria. To illustrate the condition of these prisoners as they were carried away, Isaiah is told of the Lord to be as they will be, barefoot and almost naked. Isaiah uses this prophesy as a lesson to the people of Judah that they should never do as the Egyptians and Ethiopians had done and trust in the "arm of flesh" rather than God.
