This chapter records prophesies concerning Babylon, Dumah, Idumea, Arabia and Kedar. To each, Isaiah prophecies judgment, even giving the names of those whom God would use to bring judgment.
Here Babylon called "the desert of the sea" shall be destroyed by the Medes and the Persians. All of these nations at one or another had been part of a plan to destroy Israel or had sided with those who were involved. God does not look kindly upon those who do not treat His people justly.
