A Song of Joy

Click here to read Isaiah 26.

Just as the last chapter was a Song of Phrase, this chapter is a Song of Joy. Both are basically for the same reason. It shall be sung when God accomplishes those great blessings spoken of in the Gospel. Joy is here expressed for the safety of the church, for the triumph it can expect over its enemies and for the "walk" that we have with Him even in our darkest hour.

The Prophet here laments the plight of those who do not regard the Providence of God in their distressed condition and the hope that they will eventually be delivered which will be like a "resurrection" to them. All this is written for the encouragement of God's people even those upon which the end of the world has come.
