Woe to Jerusalem

Click here to read Isaiah 29.

Woe to Jerusalem, here called "Ariel, the city where David dwelled." This prophesy was probably referring to the siege of Jerusalem by the Assyrian Army when they were delivered by an Angel of the Lord, but it also can be applied to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Chaldeans and it's last destruction by the Romans.

It prophesies the destruction of Jerusalem and also prophesies the destruction of those who are involved in the destruction. Three types of sinners are here condemned. First, those who, because of their stupidity, would not listen to the warnings of Isaiah, second, those who "appeared" to be righteous but were hypocrites and three, those who were openly in defiance of God and whose energies where directed against all of His proclamations.
